Hybrid Landscape
60” x 48”
Acrylic polymer on canvas
Completed: 1975. In the early to mid seventies I painted on very large scales. The stretchers were self-made from 2" x 2" redwood. I utilized canvas I purchased from a marine supply company. It was heavy grade and came in twelve foot and eight foot rolls. This is the only painting I retain from my giant food period. I did cupcakes, cakes, a strawberry shortcake (in the possession of my first wife, Carol Adams, a successful fiber and metal artist in Peninsula, OH.) and other objects. The works were executed with brush and airbrush. They can only be described as torturously realistic. This painting was selected during the 1975 Ohio State Fair to be hung and displayed in the office of Governor John Gilligan for about five months. Three-inch deep stretcher sides, no frame necessary or wanted.
Disposition: Artist’s possession

Hamlet
32” x 32”
Acrylic polymer on canvas
Completed: 1975
Disposition: Artist’s possession
This is another unframed, redwood stretcher painting. The detail is mind-bending. I got down to the three-hair brushes. Hamlet was our almost human Schnauzer-Puli mix. He actually posed several times for this. This painting became a bone of contention during that divorce, and she got the giant strawberry shortcake painting as a result. I have often offered to swap this one for the one she kept, but I always get a "No thanks." I have willed this to her anyway. (Not for sale) |

F-20
36" x 24"
Acrylic polymer on canvas
Completed: 1984
Dispostion: Not for sale
This painting is so sharp viewers believe it is a photograph! It shows much of what I could do with an airbrush. Northrop's F-20 program was cancelled after two of the three prototypes crashed. I painted this twice, once for an aircraft executive and once for me. |

"Vincent's Off His Rocker"
Adirondack Rocking Chair
Acrylic polymer on painted wood. Double-varnished with exterior Spar Urethane.
Completed: July 2007
Disposition: Charity Project (Pro Bono)
Tiffin Art Guild's "Rock On" Project and Event. Members volunteered to procure rocking chairs and paint on them. During Tiffin's Heritage festival in September, the chairs were auctioned off. Proceeds were for the Ritz Theater and half to the Guild treasury. My chair is painted in the manner of Vincent Van Gogh. The subject painting hangs in the Museum of Modern Art (NYC) and is titled, "Starry Night." It took me two weeks to paint. I do not paint chairs for sale. |

Chosen by the Tiffin Art Guild to paint a cowboy hat representative of Seneca County agriculture (for a Ohio Farm Bureau competition), I did what I could, not being a farm boy. The Farm Bureau's 'Our Ohio' sponsors the competition among the state's 88 counties and the works are exhibited at the Ohio State Fair in Columbus, in August. The entries are voted on by visitors at the fair and at the Our Ohio website, www.OurOhio.org. Votes count until November! Vote now! |
 |
The voting began during the Fair in August and ends Nov. 24. Vote for mine and I will stand on my head and whistle a cowboy tune. Here is a photo of the artist with the hat.
